I wanted so much to like this. I followed the basic recipe and used whole milk (not buttermilk). The pancakes have ZERO flavor. Literally. I haven’t experienced something like this before. I don’t know what is missing. I’m guessing salt perhaps, and maybe the sweetner you add needs to be tripled or even more. Next time I will try the cream cheese variation, but warning: you must do a TON of alterations to give this thing ANY flavor. I’m not a chef so it’s probably going to cost me several batches to figure this out.
