Chocolate Sauce (low carb)

This lovely sauce is perfect for drizzling over fruit, baked goods, pancakes or waffles.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa

1 cup monkfruit (my favorite zero calorie sweetener)

1/8 tsp. salt

1/2 cup cold water

1.5 tsp. vanilla extract (or peppermint)

DIRECTIONS

In a cold sauce pan, whisk dry ingredients together.  Add water and bring to a boil over medium heat.  Reduce heat to a simmer, stirring constantly, for 30 seconds.  Remove from heat and let cool,  Add vanilla extract after cooling.  The sauce will look very thin but thickens as it cools. 

 

Recipe Variations for Chocolate Sauce

  • Use milk instead of water for a creamier texture.
  • Stir in a tablespoon of butter at the end for an extra touch of richness.
  • Turn it into mocha chocolate sauce by including a teaspoon of espresso powder.
